Tatsuo Kawai MD, PhD

Dr. Kawai has more than 30 years of experience in clinical transplantation and has been working on pre-clinical research using cynomolgus monkeys since 1991. In 1994, he established the renal allograft tolerance through a mixed chimerism approach in cynomolgus monkeys, which has been successfully translated to clinical kidney transplantation (reported in NEJM in 2008).

Dr. Kawai is currently an associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and received A. Benedict Cosimi endowed chair in 2012.
