Ben Humphreys MD, PhD

Dr. Humphreys is Director of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute Kidney Program where he is a Principal Faculty member. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and directs the Laboratory of Translational Research in Kidney Repair. He received a bachelor's degree from Harvard College and MD and PhD degrees from Case Western Reserve University. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and a fellowship in Nephrology at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He is an Established Investigator of the American Heart Association and a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation. He has published 37 peer-reviewed original publications and 33 review articles or book chapters. A specialist in genetic lineage analysis and mouse genome modification, he investigates kidney injury and repair with a focus on stem cell and regenerative medicine approaches to develop new therapies for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease.
