Vikas R. Dharnidharka MD, MPH

Dr. Dharnidharka is the Director of the Pediatric Nephrology division at Washington University School of Medicine and St Louis Children’s Hospital. He obtained his MBBS and MD degrees from Bombay University in India. He completed two pediatric residencies, the first at Nair Hospital in Mumbai and the second at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, followed by a pediatric nephrology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Boston. He was a faculty member at the University of Florida in Gainesville for 13 years before moving to St Louis in 2012. He also obtained an MPH degree in Biostatistics from Florida in 2007.

Dr. Dharnidharka’s research and clinical interests are both related to the infectious and malignancy complications of organ transplantation, especially Epstein-Barr virus. He has been recognized for this work twice by the American Society of Transplantation, first in 2006 with a Young Investigator Achievement Award and then again in 2012 with a Mid-Career Achievement award. He has published 132 papers, 6 invited reviews, 14 book chapters and served as lead editor on a book on post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder. He has received NIH support continuously since 2004, including a current R01 grant.
