Dr. Roslyn Bernstein Mannon is a Professor of Medicine, in the Division of Nephrology and Professor of Surgery, Division of Transplantation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Director of Research for the Comprehensive Transplant Institute. Dr. Mannon received her MD from Duke University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine internship, residency and Nephrology fellowship at Duke, and was Chief Medical Resident for the Department of Medicine. She remained on the faculty in the Division of Nephrology at Duke as an Assistant Professor of Medicine until June 2000, when she joined the NIH/NIDDK intramural transplant program where she served as the Medical Director of Kidney and Pancreas transplantation and was a primary investigator in intramural translational studies in tolerance and late allograft failure. In August 2008, she joined the faculty at UAB and recently named as the Medical Director of Transplantation at the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She is the immediate past-president and co-chair of the Public Policy Committee of the American Society of Transplantation. She is an Associate Editor for the American Journal of Transplantation and the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. Her laboratory research focuses on mechanisms of chronic graft injury using in vitro and rodent models of kidney transplantation. Her clinical interests include understanding the mechanisms of chronic allograft injury, ischemic injury following organ procurement, and other medical complications after transplantation. She has published over 100 manuscripts and book chapters in the field of transplantation and received numerous awards in recognition of her excellence as a physician in transplant medicine. Dr. Mannon is a board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.
